The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday extended the relaxations announced in the coronavirus curfew to six more districts from June 1. The relaxations will be applicable to a total of 61 districts from Tuesday, while 14 districts with an active COVID-19 caseload of over 600 have been kept outside the purview of the order for the time being.

The process of lifting the lockdown gradually in the capital will begin from today, starting with the resumption of construction activities and the reopening of factories for a week. Fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi has been moved to the government quarantine facility in Dominica, according to sources on Sunday. The Centre on Saturday reconstituted the six empowered groups into ten in order to tackle the current COVID-19 situation in the country. The Centre formed panels of Emergency Management Plan and Strategy, Emergency Response Capabilities, Augmenting Human Resources and Capacity Building, Oxygen, Vaccination, Testing, Partnerships, Information Communication and Public Engagement, Economic and Welfare Measures, and Pandemic Response and Coordination.

An ambulance driver in Bengaluru was arrested for allegedly dumping a COVID-19 patient's body outside a crematorium on the city's outskirts as the deceased's family refused to pay the "exorbitant fee" he sought, police said on Friday. The accused was identified as Sharath Gowda.
