Cyclone Remal: The cyclonic storm makes landfall over the coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh. The authorities are on their toes to deal with the impacts of the cyclone. PM Modi, West bengal Governor held review meetings in the day. Meanwhile, state CM Mamata Banerjee also passed a meassage to the citizens urging them to stay home. 14 teams of NDRF have been deployed. Four districts each in Odisha and Tripura are on high alerts. The authorities have urged the people to follow alert and guidelines. The wind speed of 110-120 gusting to 135 kmph is expected amid the landfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of extremely heavy rain in the coastal districts of West Bengal and heavy to very heavy rainfall in north Odisha on Sunday and Monday. As a precaution, the Kolkata airport has decided to suspend flight operations for 21 hours from Sunday noon. At least 394 flights, including domestic and international, will be affected as a result.
