Parliament Budget Session: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday slammed Rahul Gandhi for "telling lies" during his speech in the Lok Sabha and indicated that the treasury benches may seek action against the Congress leader for "misleading" the House. Speaking during a debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address, Gandhi said an I.N.D.I.A bloc government would not have sent its foreign minister to the US to seek an invite for the prime minister to attend the American president's "coronation", remarks that evoked a sharp response from the BJP which accused him of resorting to "falsehood". Meanwhile, a group of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs moved a breach of parliamentary privilege notice against Congress Member of Parliament Sonia Gandhi, alleging the use of derogatory and slanderous words to describe President Droupadi Murmu as she addressed a joint session of Parliament last week.
