The Railway Ministry on Thursday officially notified an increase in train fares, raising ticket prices by 1 paise per km for ordinary class travel beyond 215 km, and by 2 paise per km for non-AC classes of mail and express trains as well as AC classes across all trains. The ministry had announced the decision on December 21, stating that the revised fares would come into effect from December 26. This marks the second revision of passenger train fares this year, with the previous hike having been implemented in July.
